Day3

Iceland's South Coast - Skógafoss and Seljalandsfoss

The day will start with a morning wellness practice before we take off for an adventure to Iceland’s South Coast. First, head out to Skógafoss waterfall. At 203-feet, it’s among the most beautiful waterfalls in Iceland. Next, wander past streams and the volcanic black sand beaches of Vik, an iconic scene for photography. The remote, seafront village of Vik will serve as your lunch pit stop before continuing on with your explorations. In the afternoon, take in the Sólheima Glacier, an outlet from the mighty Mýrdalsjökull icecap and natural area surrounded by some of Iceland's most grand volcanoes. A glacier lagoon forms in front of the glacier during summertime, visible all year round and often frozen during winter. Icebergs floating in the lagoon only add to the location's charm. Your last stop will be Seljalandsfoss, a graceful ribbon-like waterfall, which drops from an overhanging lava cliff. It is possible to walk behind it, but do not expect to stay dry! After this memorable day, return to your hotel in Selfoss for an evening at your leisure.

Day4

Golden Circle and Fontana Spa

Start your morning with a wellness practice before we will embark on a tour of some of Iceland’s most famous natural sites. The scenic Golden Circle route’s first stop is Thingvellir National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Stroll around the country’s most sacred site, home of the oldest existing national parliament in the world, the Alþingi. Thingvellir is a place of fascinating natural beauty, a spectacular geological vista, set on a vast plain flanked by large fissures, right by Iceland’s largest lake, Thingvallavatn. The Mid-Atlantic rift is clearly visible; a rift that is forming as Iceland is being pulled apart by tectonic forces. Here the North-American and the Eurasian continental plates drift apart by 19mm each year, or a little less than 1 inch, causing a rift valley to form. Next, check out the mighty waterfall of Gullfoss. At the falls, the glacial river of Hvítá tumbles 32-meters, or 96 feet, in a double cascade. On a sunny day, a rainbow or double rainbow is likely due to the massive spray coming over the water for a picture perfect backdrop. After grabbing lunch, explore the active geothermal area of Haukadalur which contains the geysers Geysir and Strokkur, and many other hot springs. Witness Strokkur, the only erupting geyser emitting hot water and steam to an elevation of 25-meters, or 75 feet, every 5-7 minutes. A special stop will be made this afternoon for a wellness practice at a uniquely Icelandic location. Revel in the opportunity to connect with yourself before culminating the day with a plunge in some hot springs. Fontana Spa is known for its steam baths, outdoor mineral pools & Icelandic sauna - the nation’s national pastime. Feeling completely refreshed, return to your hotel for the remainder of the evening at your leisure.

Your morning begins with a wellness practice before checking out of your hotel in Selfoss. Today, transfer to the capital, Reykjavik, stopping at some points of interest en route. Tour the Hellisheiði Power Station, the eighth-largest geothermal power station in the world and largest in Iceland. Gain unique insight into how Iceland’s unique landscape fuels the country’s renewable energy movement. Next, check out Raufarhólshellir, the fourth-longest lava tube in Iceland. Walk the path of lava that flowed during the Leitahraun eruption, which occurred east of the Bláfjöll mountains about 5,200 years ago. This afternoon, check into your central Reykjavik hotel and opt to participate in an afternoon wellness class after getting settled. Tonight, enjoy the evening in the capital. Day6

Reykjavik and Blue Lagoon

After an early wellness activity and breakfast, we will make our way to the Blue Lagoon for an invigorating soak in these famous pools. The Blue Lagoon is one of Iceland’s most popular attractions, a natural geothermal pool in the middle of a large and dramatic lava field and an oasis that owes its existence to a nearby geothermal power plant. Enjoy your time with a refreshing plunge in the inviting, rejuvenating and pleasantly warm mineral-rich water which is famed for its reputed healing properties. Bathing in this surreal environment is a unique experience no one should miss. The Blue Lagoon’s warm water and naturally active ingredients like mineral salts, silica, and blue-green algae will help you relax and escape the stress and strain of daily life. This afternoon, set out to explore the city of Reykjavik at your own pace. Your tour guide will be available to make recommendations based on your own areas of interest. Tonight, join your group for a farewell dinner to toast the culmination of your adventure in Iceland at a local restaurant in the city.
